Slowly we are getting our old Princes Parade back…

The hoardings have gone and the new fencing that has been put up is neat and discrete – however there’s still a lot of rubbish left over – including some large metal panels, concrete blocks and plastic fencing material. We hope there are plans to remove it.

The new fencing allows a great view of the site which is looking lovely. There is a lot of new growth, but so many trees and bushes have been removed which will take years to regrow.

We very much look forward to hearing what the Council will do with this land, and how much access to it that the public will be allowed to safely enjoy.

Already the walks on the paths have been greatly improved with more space for cycles and pets.

Update:

FHDC know there is still a lot of work to do clearing the leftover rubbish from the site. When the hoardings were removed the brief was not to remove any more vegetation than was necessary – and then with the warm, wet weather that followed it grew back very quickly, covering a lot of the rubbish back up. So they are waiting for it to die away later in the year so they can do a thorough job – without having to go back yet again.

The Seapoint Car Park is also in the process being tidied up.
