The hoardings at Princes Parade are now being dismantled with the intention that they will be put to use at the council’s Otterpool Park development.
The work is expected to take two to three weeks so it should be completed in early May 2024. Then the pressing question will be: what is to become of the site? It is still heavily contaminated from its days as an unregulated rubbish dump and the full extent of dangers lurking there were revealed during the investigations commissioned when Princes Parade was earmarked for development. The land cannot be opened up for public access until or unless it is remediated. In the meantime, in place of the hoardings there will be low level wire fencing which will allow views over the land — but no access.
The council is asking the community what they would like to see done with Princes Parade in the long term.
